Many aspiring candidates seeking admission to second year BE are asking about the details of admission for second year in engineering colleges.  For such of those students, I am giving below the previous year's advertisement, which could be used as a model.

Qualification:
Diploma Candidates: A pass with minimum eligibility marks in the Diploma Course of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or Equivalent Diploma Courses prescribed for the B.E, B.Tech Degree Courses.

B.Sc. Candidates: A pass with minimum eligibility marks in any recognized Bachelors Degree in Science of minimum 3 years of durations with 10+2+3 pattern with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Degree level.

The completed application forms along with DD for Registraion Fee (except SC/ST candidates) should reach "The Secretary, Second Year Engineering Admissions - 2008, Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi - 630 004" on or before 10.06.2008 (for Diploma Candidates) and 27.06.2008 (for B.Sc Candidates).

This type of advertisement will be issued by the Directorate of Technical Education, normally during this month, and students can get such information from leading news papers and through this website.


So, candidates seeking admission direct to second year engineering can wait for few days to proceed further.

As the plus two results are yet to be announced, the marks are not available for filling up in the application form of Anna University.  The Plus two results are expected to be announced on 15th of this month. Students can wait until such time to get the mark sheets.  As the last date for submitting the filled in application is 31st May 2010, students need not show any sort of urgency in filling up the  application forms.

The following documents should be enclosed with the application:

1. Filled-in Coding Sheet

2. Attested Xerox Copy of HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet

3. Attested Xerox Copy of Transfer Certificate

4. Attested Xerox Copy of 10th Mark Sheet

5. Attested Xerox Copy of Permanent Community Certificate Card (if applicable)

6. Attested Xerox Copy of Nativity Certificate (if applicable)

7. Xerox Copy of H. Sc. Hall Ticket

8. Attested xerox copy of first graduate certificate (if applicable)

9. Special Reservation Form (s) with DD and Relevant Certificate (s) if applicable

Candidates should be more careful while filling the application forms. While taking xerox copies, make adequate number of xerox copies of each certificate, for future use.

As already announced, Anna University, Chennai will be issuing application forms for admission to B.E. and B.Tech courses in various Government, Government aided and self financing engineering colleges from 3rd May 2010.

The cost of application will be Rs 500 and Rs 250 for SC/ST candidates. 

The application forms will be sold in around 58 centres throughout Tamil Nadu and the details are available in the official website.

The application forms though purchased in a hurried manner, it can be filled in complete shape, once the plus two examination results and mark sheets are available.  Hence, the students need not show any hurry in purchasing the application form.

It is  a simple way to get a seat in the desired college.  All the Government, Government aided and self financing engineering colleges will participate in this program and students seeking admission in these colleges will be admitted through this counselling only.

Candidates seeking admission has to apply in the prescribed application form, to be issued by the Anna University, within the stipulated time frame.

Based on the cut off marks, students will be called for counseling and the students with  high marks will have more chances to select the required college.  In the first week, students will have more chances for selection. Students seeking admission in Government and Government aided engineering colleges will be required to pay lesser fees.

Counseling will be held only at Chennai Anna University's Counseling centre.

Students who come from outside the Chennai and new to Chennai, can reach Anna University either by City Bus or other means of transport.  From Egmore railway station, 23C is the direct bus and fromCentral Railway station, they have to come to Saidapet Railway station and from there 5B is the direct bus.  I have given here some simple routes only.

Anna University, Chennai is releasing a rank list of various engineering colleges based on the performance of the respective students of an Engineering College, which will be very much beneficial to the students to decide for the selection of a better engineering college.  So students, must check to the following link (not now) at the time of release of rank list after the II semester examination are over during June 2010.
